INS Vikramaditya(formerly Admiral Gorshkov) is the newest and largest ship, a modified Kiev-class aircraft carrier ,purchased from Russia.joined Indian Navy on 16 Nov 2013. Prime Minister of India formally inducted INS Vikramaditya into the Indian Navy and dedicated it to the Nation on 14th june 2014.
The aircraft carrier has a overall length of 284 m and 273m flight deck which makes it able to carry up to 20 MiG-29 fighters and up to eight Kamov Ka-28/Ka-31 helicopters.
It can carry over 1,600 personnel on board.And with full logistics,the vessel is capable of sustaining at sea for about 45 days.
Eventually, INS Vikramaditya will carry HAL Tejas trainer aircraft, Dhruv light helicopters, Kinzhal air defense missiles and Kashtan air defense gun or missile systems.
This along with INS Viraat makes India only country in Asia to have two aircraft carrier vessels
